Becky Solley

Mrs. Becky Solley, District X President

Becky Solley earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education at Louisiana Tech University. She has a master’s +30 in administration and supervision from Northeast Louisiana University, now known as the Solley began her teaching career in the Lincoln Parish teaching elementary Math, Science and Reading. She has taught in Jefferson, Morehouse and Ouachita parishes. Mrs. Solley returned to ULM as an adjunct instructor and site coordinator for LaSIP Projects. In 1998 Becky became the School Improvement Coordinator and Accountability Program Coordinator-Region VIII with the Louisiana Department of Education. She returned to the ULM Department of Continuing Education as the Non-Credit Programs Coordinator where she completed her teaching career.

Upon her retirement, Becky quickly joined LRTA. She has been active member of both LRTA and the local Unit the Ouachita Retired Teachers Association since 2010. She has served as president of Ouachita RTA as well as legislative liaison. Becky has also served LRTA District X as second vice-president from 2014-2016 and as president from 2016-2020. In addition, she has served as the District X legislative chair and Nominating Committee Representative for LRTA Area A (Districts X and XI).

Through her career, Becky Solley was recognized for her work in the classroom. In 1993, the state parent teacher association (PTA) recognized Mrs. Solley with the Louisiana Educator of Distinction awarded. She was also recognized as Teacher of the Year for Highland Elementary in 1993.

Becky comes from a family of educators. She and her husband share three daughters and seven grandchildren. In her spare time, she loves to travel and cheer on the Arkansas Razorbacks.
