Chris Nolen

Chris Nolen, District VIII President

Chris Nolen has a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a concentration in social studies and a minor in speech. She also earned a Master of Education in special education (learning disabled) +30 hours.

Chris retired with 36 years of service. She spent nine years in the classroom as a special education teacher and five years as an Individualized Education Program (IEP) facilitator. She served the rest of her tenure as Director of Special Services. Throughout her career, she actively participated in organizations that supported and enhanced education. She also served as president and secretary of the Louisiana Association of Special Education Administrators and was a member of the Sabine Association of Educators.

Upon retirement, Chris joined LRTA. She has been a member since 2011. She is also an active member in the local Unit Sabine Retired Teachers Association. She has served in officer positions with the Unit, including second vice president and president. Additionally, she is also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Sabine Master Gardeners. In addition, she has served on the Northwest Louisiana Human Services District as secretary and president.

Chris Nolen is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Many and currently serves as the church Lay Leader. In addition, she teaches adult bible class and is an active member of the Sabine United Methodist Women organization, currently serving as their treasurer. She was also recently elected as the vice president of the Alexandria District organization of the United Methodist Women. Chris and her husband have two children and enjoy traveling in their spare time.
