LRTA Announces 2022-2024 State Officers

The Louisiana Retired Teachers Association is pleased to announce the incoming state officers for the 2022-2024 term. 

Effective April 27, 2022 the following officers assumed their positions:

State President – Lazette Watterson

As president of LRTA, Mrs. Watterson will preside at all meetings of the association, the Executive Board and the Executive Committee. She will also appoint all standing and special committees. She is responsible for performing other such duties as needed to carry out the purposes of the association.

 
Mrs. Watterson previously served as First Vice-President and State Membership Chair. She also served as Second Vice-President and State Programs Chair from 2018-2020.
First Vice-President – Clyde Hamner

In addition to serving as First Vice-President, Mr. Hamner will also serve as State Membership Chair. He will be responsible for working with the district first vice presidents on membership promotion. 

 
Mr. Hamner served as Second Vice-President from 2020-2022.
Second Vice-President – Genevieve Gordon

Mrs. Gordon will serve as Second Vice-President and State Programs Chair. She will be responsible for working with the district second vice presidents on program promotion.

 
Mrs. Gordon previously served as president of LRTA District VIII, which encompasses DeSoto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine and Winn parishes. In 2014, she was the recipient of the Horace G. Robinson Lifetime Membership Award and the LRTA Name of Fame. 
 
Mrs. Gordon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business education and a Master of Science degree from Northwestern State University. She currently serves on the Sabine Parish School Board and is an active member with Aimwell Baptist Church. In her spare time, she and her husband love to travel.
Janis Hernandez will continue to serve on the LRTA Executive Board and Executive Committee as Immediate Past President. Freddy Rivers, District IX President, was also elected to serve as District Representative on the Executive Committee.
 
 
Finally, thank you to Nancy Quigley for her service to the LRTA Executive Board and Executive Committee.

Congratulations to our new officers! We are excited for our officers to begin their work to serve LRTA and MAKE RETIREMENT YEARS GREAT!
