November 1, 2022Dan Poole Posthumously Honored with Name of Fame Award
November 1, 2022(Baton Rouge, La.) – The Louisiana Retired Teachers Association presented Sue Sandifer with the Name of Fame award at its Fall Meeting on October 25. The Name of Fame award is presented to an active LRTA member who is involved in the organization.

Ms. Sandifer earned her bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech University. Upon graduation, she began teaching in Catahoula Parish. Ms. Sandifer taught for 33 years in Catahoula parish, including her time served as assistant principal. During her career, Ms. Sandifer was honored as Teacher of the Year at both the parish and district levels.
Ms. Sandifer has been a member of LRTA since 1998 and has attended every District and state meeting since she retired. She is also very active in her local Unit, Catahoula Parish Retired Teachers Association. Ms. Sandifer previously served on the LRTA Bylaws Committee and coordinated decorations and door prizes for state meetings for five years.

In addition to her involvement with LRTA, Ms. Sandifer is an active member of her community. She is a member of the Jonesville Woman’s Club and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church. She is also a member of the choir and previously directed the children’s choir. Ms. Sandifer serves on the board of Catahoula ARC and is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Ms. Sandifer is married to Benjamin Sandifer, who is also a retired teacher and Name of Fame honoree.
