Subject Line: URGENT ALERT: Oppose Harmful Cuts to Healthcare
Dear Senator,
The reconciliation bill passed by the House on May 22, 2025, includes severe cuts to Medicare and Medicaid—of which threaten essential public services for millions of Americans, particularly older adults.
The bill proposes drastic reductions in healthcare funding. The current Congressional Budget Office reported Medicaid cuts totaling $700–$864 billion over 10 years, which would eliminate coverage for millions of seniors and destabilizes hospitals and long-term care—especially in rural and underserved areas. Medicare cuts of $490–$535 billion over 10 years, including a 2.8% cut in physician payments and a 2.83% reduction in the 2025 Physician Fee Schedule. These reductions threaten access to care by discouraging provider participation, particularly in areas already experiencing healthcare shortages.
Many of the spending cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill (H.R. 1) are intentionally scheduled to kick in after the 2026 midterm elections—delaying the political consequences while jeopardizing the long-term stability of our nation’s health.
Protecting the health and dignity of vulnerable populations must be a bipartisan priority. I respectfully urge you to reject the proposed cuts to Medicaid and Medicare. Your vote will impact the lives of millions of Americans.
Sincerely,
