Hattie White, District VI President

Hattie Ferguson White is a retired educator with thirty- three (33) years of service in the Calcasieu Parish School System, mainly at Dolby Elementary School. White retired in 2004 and became a member of of the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association (LRTA) that year and in 

2007, she became an active member of the Calcasieu Parish Unit of Retired Teachers (CPURT). She served her unit as Financial Secretary and Treasurer.

In District VI LRTA, White served as Secretary and Second Vice President. She graduated from Grambling State University (1970- B S in Elementary Education and Special Education) and the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater (1972 MSEd in Emotional Disturbance). 

White is a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Lake Charles where she is a prayer ministry coordinator. She is a Diamond Life Member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and has been in the organization for 58 years. She has served in many positions as well as president of her local chapter.

White is a member of the National Association of University Women, Incorporated (NAUW) where she served as National Nominating Committee chairman and National Financial Secretary. In the local Lake Charles Branch, she served as Second Vice President and currently is the Parliamentarian. She is a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star.

White loves creative writing and is an unpublished author of several children books.

White is the widow of William “Bill” White, Sr, who was Assistant Principal at Barbe High School at his death. She has one son, Rev William White, Jr and one granddaughter, Arianna.
