Patsy Hebert earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics Education with a minor in general science. She also earned a Master of Education Degree in Home Economics Education. These degrees were earned at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, now known as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree, Patsy served as a 4-H Agent with LSU Extension Service for 3.5 years in Jefferson Parish. She retired after 35 plus years of service to the public school system in Vermilion Parish as a teacher, leader, and advocate in education. Throughout her career, she actively participated in organizations that supported and enhanced education, especially the Louisiana Association of Educators and the Vermilion Association of Educators.
Upon her retirement, Patsy joined LRTA and has been an active member of the Vermilion Parish Retired Teachers Association since 2011. She has served as president of Vermilion Parish RTA 2015-2017, as well as vice president and newsletter editor. Patsy has also served LRTA District V as second vice president from 2019-2021, first vice president from 2021-2023 and now serves as president for 2024-2025.
Patsy serves her Vermilion Parish community as an active member of Abbeville Garden Club, Keep Abbeville Beautiful, and Lafayette Parish Master Gardener Association. She is very active in the Louisiana Garden Club Federation, Keep Louisiana Beautiful and the Confrerie d’ Abbeville de L’Omelette Geante (Abbeville Giant Omelette Association).
Patsy is proud of her three children, daughter-in-law, son-in-law (all ULL graduates) and eight grandchildren. In her spare time, she loves to dance, travel, support community theater, and cheer on the ULL Ragin’ Cajuns.
