Leea Reese Russell is an educator, choreographer, arts administrator, and native of Baton Rouge, LA. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern State University’s department of Theatre and Dance and is a 2019 graduate of the Baton Rouge Business Report’s Executive Leadership Academy.
In her role as Director of Education, Leea oversees all education programs, professional development, the Poetry Out Loud program, camps, and classes, impacting 10,000 students and 300 teachers annually. Prior to her time at the Arts Council, Leea was a dance specialist for 10 years in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System at an arts magnet school, teaching students in grades PK-5. She is a community partner for the Cradle to K program, and early childhood development initiative produced by Baton Rouge Mayor-President, Sharon Weston Broome.
Leea remains active in her community by serving on the board of Politicraft, Inc. and the grant committee of the Foundation for EBR Schools. She provides choreography for local theatre productions and has participated as a panelist and workshop presenter for the Louisiana Department of Education, Louisiana Division of the Arts, Acadiana Center for the Arts, and the National Guild for Community Arts Education.
