(Baton Rouge, La.)- The Louisiana Retired Teachers Association returns to Bossier City to host its annual fall meeting from October 24-26. This year’s meeting, “Back in the Saddle, Again,” will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn located on 2015 Old Minden Rd.
The fall meeting serves as an opportunity for retired educators around the state to connect with one another. “Back in the Saddle, Again” will be the first in-person fall meeting LRTA has held since the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are excited to be ‘back in the saddle, again’ with our members,” says LRTA Executive Director Rodney Watson. “It has been nearly three years since our last fall meeting. We are working hard to create a relevant and interesting program for retirees and members of LRTA.”
Katherine Whitney, director of the Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana, will provide an update on the retirement system. Douglas Swenson, deputy director of TRSL, will also discuss recent changes to the return-to-work laws for retired teachers. In addition, Col. David Couvillon with the Office of Group Benefits will provide an update on recent insurance changes to the group. A schedule of events is available online..
This event is open to the public, and registration for the conference is free. On-site registration is available, though guests must pre-register for the meal function.
