A Recap of the 2022 Fall Meeting

After much anticipation, LRTA members were “Back in the Saddle, Again” for the 2022 LRTA Fall Meeting. We were so glad to meet, greet and work with everyone. Now, let’s take a look at some of the highlights of the Fall Meeting!

Our Guest Speakers
We began bright and early on Tuesday, Oct. 25 with a presentation from the director of the Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana Katherine Whitney. Ms. Whitney provided an update on the retirement system and gave insight on future legislation that could impact retired teachers. View the slides from her presentation here

TRSL deputy director of TRSL Doug Swenson also presented on recent changes to the return-to-work laws. View the slides from his presentation here. Thank you to our guest speakers from TRSL for taking the time out of their very busy schedules to speak with us.

In addition to our speakers from TRSL, LRTA also hosted two workshops for LRTA members. One of the workshops was a programs panel led by LRTA Second Vice-President Genevieve Gordon. Panelists included William Picard-District II President, Michael Winkler-St. Tammany RSEA President, Ivy Mouton-District VI President, Chris Nolen-District VIII President and Dr. Liz White-Lincoln PRE President. LRTA Executive Director Rodney Watson also led a membership workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Materials from these workshops are available to LRTA members upon request.
