LRTA is committed to providing you with timely updates and quality service to the best of our abilities during this time. The staff is working remotely and monitoring the status of the Louisiana Legislature.
On March 31, the Legislature convened again to hear any late-filed bills. Several of these bills pertained to retirement. Below are the bill numbers, authors of the bills and brief descriptions of the bills. The digests of the bills are also included.
The bills are pending House and Senate referral. We have updated our legislative tracking on the website to include the late-filed bills. LRTA has not taken any positions on these bills at this time.
After all late-filed bills were read, the Legislature adjourned for the second time this legislative session. The Legislature will convene at the call of the Speaker of the House and the Senate President. Essentially, the date for the Legislature to return is to be determined. Governor John Bel Edwards has extended the stay-at-home order until April 30. This will certainly impact all operations, including the Legislature’s return.
I want to thank you all, again, for your understanding and cooperation as we work as a community to resolve this international health crisis. And, thank you to our dedicated citizens, many of which are our loved ones, who are working on the frontlines of this crisis (medical professionals, first responders, grocery store employees, essential personnel, etc.). Please stay safe until we meet again.
