LRTA Announces 2022 Spring District Meeting Schedule

Learn how you can join us on the “Road to a COLA!”

Dear LRTA Members,

Have you heard the news? Senator Ed Price has pre-filed a bill (Senate Bill 6) that would grant a 2 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) to TRSL retirees!

Now, the Louisiana Legislature must approve granting the COLA to retirees. How will we go from a pre-filed bill to legislative approval? LRTA will soon embark on our advocacy campaign, the “Road to a COLA.”

SB 6 will have to make several stops in the Legislature before it can reach the Governor’s desk.

Click here to read the road map for SB 6, or click here to watch an animated video that demonstrates the bill’s path.
We have the travel guide in front of us, and we will hit the ground running on March 14 when the Legislature convenes for the 2022 Regular Session. LRTA wants YOU to join us on the advocacy bus!
  • Keep an eye on your inboxes for Action Alerts! Email Club members will receive “Action Alerts” when it is time to contact legislators. Email Club members will also receive regular legislative updates on bills LRTA is monitoring or tracking throughout the session.
  • If you have not done so already, practice using our VoterVoice tool! VoterVoice is an advocacy tool LRTA has purchased for our members to make it easier to contact your legislators. Simply type in your mailing address and VoterVoice will match you to your legislators. It just takes one click of a button to contact your legislators. Click here to practice using VoterVoice with our mock campaign on our website.
  • Check out our other resources in the Advocacy Center! Go to www.lrta.net/advocacycenter, and click on the “Resources” section for talking points and how-to’s. You can also find our Legislative Priorities, Bills Tracking webpage, and more important tools for the session!
  • Make sure you are an active member of LRTA! Membership renewal notices were sent in January. If you have not done so already, please renew your membership dues with LRTA. This will ensure you continue to receive regular communication from our organization.
Get your snacks, fuel up and be prepared to hit the road!

Regards,
Rodney R. Watson
