Winnfield Senior High School 2020 graduating senior Taylor Womack was proudly presented the Winn Parish Retired Teachers Association scholarship check by President Tommy Bankston for $1,000 in her quest for a career in teaching mathematics. Mr. Bankston granted a personal, additional $1,000 scholarship to Miss Womack.

Taylor will be attending Northwestern State University this fall in the Secondary Education curriculum and has already completed almost her first year’s work online.

Taylor, daughter of Billy and Misti Womack, graduated from WSHS with a 3.96 GPA, ranked 9 out of 87 in her class, and has demonstrated her desire to help others through being a member of FBLA, SADD, Anchor Club, WSHS Drama Club, NHS, and Beta. She participated in the A-HEC summer program and is a volunteer at Legacy Hospice. Additionally, she received a 30 in reading on her ACT, a platinum in work keys, an Accelerated Reader award for reading over one million words during the school year, the Athletic Scholastic Award, Patrick F. Taylor Foundation membership, and the President’s Award for Educational Excellence.

Educators submitted recommendations for Taylor, praising her dedication and passion for leading people to be the best they can be all the time, as well as being conscientious about doing little things right that make a big difference in all she does. This future mathematics educator has the passion, excitement, positive attitude, dedication, reliability, and total commitment to be an outstanding teacher who will awaken the enthusiasm in her students.
