September 1, 2021Greetings everyone,
It is important to attend the Fall District meetings to receive updates regarding your retirement benefits. The LRTA Fall District Meetings will begin soon, with the first meeting taking place on September 7. LRTA members are invited to attend their District’s meeting to receive updates from their local District and the state organization. This is also a great opportunity to see our local and District leaders in action and meeting with fellow LRTA members. Please review the information in this email to see when and how your LRTA District is meeting. If you are unsure of which LRTA District you are in, please click here to view a list of the LRTA Districts and associated parishes.
You will notice most of our Districts will have Zoom meetings for their Fall District Meeting. Our District Presidents, along with their District Officers, worked with the state office, reviewed safety guidelines, and spoke with their members in order to make the best decision on how their Districts will meet. We hoped our Districts would resume traditional, in-person meetings. However, the rise in COVID-19 cases across the state due to the delta variant caused many Districts to opt for virtual meetings. These decisions were reinforced by a survey conducted by the LRTA officer regarding member attitudes on meeting face-to-face versus virtually. The LRTA state office will assist the District Presidents with facilitating the Zoom meetings and distributing meeting information to the membership.
How will this work?
Active members will receive an email reminder the day before and the day of their District Meeting with the Zoom meeting information. The reminder email will also include a link to download the Fall District Meeting packet. In order to keep the meetings secure, the Zoom meeting information will not be published on the LRTA website. Therefore, active LRTA members who are not already in the Email Club should sign up to receive the email notification. Click here to sign up for the LRTA Email Club.
If you have not used Zoom before or are not familiar with Zoom, check out this video or our Zoom Guide. You can join a Zoom meeting through telephone or cellphone if you are not comfortable with joining on a laptop or computer. We will provide the phone numbers to dial along with the directions to join the meeting by telephone or cellphone.

At the time of this announcement, we are still reviewing the results from our recent meeting survey along with other data to finalize our decisions for the LRTA Fall Meeting. We will send a separate announcement once the decision for the LRTA Fall Meeting is made.
We hope you are able to attend your LRTA District’s Fall Meeting! Although the majority of meetings are virtual, we will still present great, informative materials as we would at an in-person meeting.
