Update from LRTA: Fall District Meetings Cancelled

Dear LRTA Members,

We are, once again, faced with the aftermath of a devastating storm. Hurricane Ida has displaced or disrupted many of our members and Louisiana residents. Whether directly or indirectly impacted by the storm, we are all feeling the emotional turmoil that comes with such a severe weather event. These are very uncertain times, but I want you to know that the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association will be here for you.

Right now, we want our members to focus on recovery efforts and helping those in need. Therefore, all Fall District Meetings are CANCELLED until further notice. District Presidents may choose to reschedule their meetings on an individual basis. If the District decides to reschedule, LRTA will communicate this information with the membership.

We will update our members in regard to office operations and future LRTA meetings and events as the information becomes available. Currently, the state office is closed until further notice. Please continue to check the LRTA Facebook page and website for updates.

For more information on recovery efforts, you may want to consider this resource: https://hurricanerecovery.la.gov/.

Louisiana will do what it does best: regroup and rebuild. We are resilient people, and we will get through this together.

Please stay safe, and take care.

Regards,
Rodney R. Watson
LRTA Executive Director
