URGENT Call to Action for H.R. 82

Please take a few minutes to email each member of the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee TODAY and TOMORROW and ask them to retain the original language of H.R. 82 (fully repeals the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO)). House Leadership waited until the last day of the 25 legislative day requirement per the Consensus Calendar to pull H.R. 82 and send it to mark-up. This is an effort to kill the bill before it can reach the House floor for a vote. Had they delayed this decision, the bill would have proceeded forward as written. For this reason, we must jump into action to turn this debacle around.

A script and email addresses of committee members are provided. Just copy, paste and send. It’s very easy!

The Ways and Means Committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow so it’s IMPERATIVE we respond NOW. Thank you!

EMAIL SCRIPT

As a WAYS & MEANS Committee member, please retain the original language of H.R. 82, an important bipartisan bill to repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO).

Retired Americans are counting on their elected officials to give H.R. 82 the floor vote it deserves because it repeals the penalties that affect the earned benefits of Social Security recipients and their spouses.

The WEP affects retired/disabled workers, spouses, and children. In contrast, the GPO disproportionately affects women (spouses and widow(er)s), suffering devastating financial losses when their spouse dies and losing an already paid-for spousal survivor benefit.

I appeal to you to move forward with the solid bipartisan bill, H.R. 82, and vote on it as written to help American citizens and their families.
